Increased optimism from employers, says REC
Employers are increasingly optimistic about staffing in 2008, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has stated.
Research by the body has revealed that the end of 2007 showed strong growth in the recruitment sector.
'The uncertainty in the wider economy has certainly not yet hit most recruiters,' Roger Tweedy, the REC's Director of Research, said.
Mr Tweedy added that the study confirms 2007 was a good year for employment.
He remarked that this trend has continued into the start of 2008.
Furthermore, the REC research discovered that employers are more optimistic about recruitment over the year ahead than they were in 2006.
Firms also predicted that the need for agency workers will increase over the next six months, with the REC stating recently that the debate over the equal treatment of temporary workers should be based on facts.
According to the body, only 9% of agency workers are unsatisfied with their assignments.
