12% rise predicted for graduate recruitment
Those looking to gain employment after university may be interested in a report which shows there is set to be a 12% increase in graduate recruitment over the summer.
Incomes Data Service (IDS), which undertook the survey, also revealed that manufacturing was leading the graduate recruitment market with a 31% increase.
Almost 100 employers were surveyed and, despite the increase, there are concerns that the current economic situation could lead to an eventual fall in graduate jobs.
It was reported in the Financial Times that IDS said: 'As the 2008 graduate recruitment season unfolds it appears that caution is the watchword guiding employers' decisions both about how much to pay and how many to take on.'
A recent survey from KPMG and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development reinforced this warning, as it showed that a fifth of businesses could undertake redundancies in 2008.
