Financiers called for in public sector
Financial experts are increasingly in demand in the public sector, one recruitment firm has said.
According to recruiting company Nigel Lynn, demand is set to soar for financiers as not-for-profit and public-sector organisations move over to international financial reporting standards (IFRS) this year.
Managing Director of Nigel Lynn, Steve Carter, remarked that competition for commercial employees in the private and public sector will be tough, with many recruiters warning finance candidates that they will be subject to credit checks in the application process.
Yngve Traberg of ClickAJob recently stated: 'No financial institution could really afford not to insist on one.'
Mr Carter added that financiers in the public sector are offered competitive wages compared to the same positions in the private sector as they are 'essential' to the organisation.
'The public sector has succeeded in securing this talent by offering transferable skills and an attractive work/life balance. With all the changes ahead with regard to the IFRS, demand for this expertise will soar,' he noted.
