Future financiers warned about credit history
Graduates hoping to apply for jobs in the finance world have been warned about the consequences of not having a good credit history.
An expert has remarked that future financiers should expect to have their credit history checked as part of their application for a job.
'If you're going into a position where there's finance involved, it would probably seem appropriate that the employer checks your credit history,' Neil Munroe, the External Affairs Director at Equifax, said.
Mr Munroe noted that checking one's credit file is important as it can affect job applications and personal finances.
Recent National Union of Students research conducted by Equifax discovered that a fresher expecting to graduate in 2010 is likely to carry a debt burden of £30,000 when they leave higher education.
'The first thing to do when you come out of university or college and you're looking at possibly needing credit, is to get a copy of your file and see what's on there,' he urged graduates.
