Healthcare graduates could struggle to find work
Physiotherapy graduates in England are struggling to find work, one organisation has discovered, with half of all physiotherapists who left university in 2007 unable to find a job in the right profession.
According to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), out of those who have found work as physiotherapists, 50% have had to accept short-term contracts.
Chief Executive of the CSP, Phil Gray, remarked that more help is needed from the Government.
'With a Government investment of £50m they can put highly trained physiotherapy graduates into useful jobs and provide services that transform patients lives,' he said.
He added that an analysis of areas where physiotherapists are needed to improve patient care should be conducted.
Figures from the CSP - the professional, educational and trade union body for 47,000 physiotherapists - show that 1,800 physiotherapy graduates have been unable to find work since 2005.
