Facebook is described as goldmine for talent
The popular social-networking website Facebook has been described as a goldmine for talent by one expert, news which could interest graduates registered to the site.
Founder of Jobsinpods.com, Chris Russell, has commented on how Facebook can be utilised as a recruitment tool.
Speaking to Online Recruitment magazine, Mr Russell said that the site provided opportunities for bosses to search for suitable candidates.
'It's filled with millions of passive candidates that employers covet,' he told the news source, adding: 'Facebook is a talent goldmine.'
Mr Russell noted that establishing relationships is the main reason the site is useful, but suggested companies should set up groups to advertise they are hiring.
Big Four accountancy firm Ernst & Young operates a group on Facebook, which now has over 12,000 members.
This news follows a lot of negative press surrounding social networking sites - MySpace, Facebook and Bebo - with many experts warning against listing information online for the fear of jeopardising employment chances.
