London mayor announces jobs commitment
London Mayor Boris Johnson has announced that he is committed to helping unemployed people get into work.
Speaking as he unveiled a £23 million investment to boost employment, which will be delivered by the London Development Agency (LDA), the politician claimed it is his 'duty' to do everything he can to assist the capital's economy.
'This £23 million funding will help ensure that those Londoners who are out of work will receive the support they need and businesses have increased access to a skilled workforce,' he remarked.
Graduate jobs seekers may be among those to benefit from the extra money, which is expected to have an impact on more than 20,000 people.
Of this number, it is thought that 10,000 will go on to find jobs or take up further training.
In March, the LDA launched a new push to make job seekers and businesses aware of the help it can provide during the economic dowturn.
