Drive to improve NHS boosting demand for staff, claims industry insider
Government policies aimed at improving the efficiency of the NHS have led to increased demand for healthcare professionals, it has been claimed.
According to Kate Harris, Commercial Director of a leading health, scientific and social care staffing business, more healthcare employees are required as a result of the drive to reduce waiting lists and the implementation of an 'agenda for choice'.
'Clearly the demand is there and we believe that will continue,' she commented, adding: 'In terms of what's happening in the market there are a few factors that suggest this is not just a short-term blip.'
A recent performance report published by the NHS claimed that the organisation met its target to extend the opening hours of half of GP practices by the end of last year.
The report also said the NHS had made good progress on meeting waiting time targets and tackling healthcare-associated infections.
