Poll finds UK workers regret degree choices

According to a survey, almost half of UK workers are dubious as to whether they studied the right degree.

The poll, undertaken in 33 countries globally by Kelly Services, found that two-thirds of UK employees wished they had studied to a higher level than they did.

Half of respondents in Britain said that their school education had not sufficiently prepared them for working life.

'It is now the norm for employees to have several career changes in the course of a working life. It's possible for someone who is dissatisfied with their career to do something positive about it,' said Managing Director of the agency, Chris Moore.

Two of the major reasons cited by workers for not going back into education or changing their careers were family commitments, financial issues and time.

Meanwhile, recent findings by Hewitt Associates show that employee sickness costs UK companies around £1,000 a year.
