Business graduates opt for masters degrees

More and more business graduates are looking to further their education after gaining degrees rather than going straight into the world of work, an expert has advised.

As more students achieve first class degrees, they are aspiring to take Masters qualifications both in this country and abroad, according to Chief Executive of the Association for MBAs, Jeanette Purcell.

In an article for the Birmingham Mail, Ms Purcell wrote: 'The value of graduates who have completed a Masters in business and management is increasingly recognised by employers.'

She added that companies can be assured that candidates with this qualification have practical business skills, such as problem solving and the capacity to analyse situations.

The current economic climate has provoked several firms, such as Ford, Trinity Mirror and the NHS, to slash their graduate recruitment intakes this year in order to manage costs.
