Graduates offered new training scheme
A new postgraduate qualification in Meat Science has been launched at the University of Bristol with collaboration from staff at the Division of Farm Animal Science and leading businesses in the meat industry.
Graduates who apply to the course will gain work experience alongside studying for the qualification, Meatinfo.co.uk reports.
Meat processing companies Dawn Meats, Hilton Meats, 2 Sisters Food Group and Tulip are all involved in the scheme, as well as Cranswick Country Foods - which recently announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art bacon processing plant in Yorkshire.
Course organiser Dr Peter Sheard stated that the qualification will be a great boost to students who desire to work in the food industry.
'This is a fantastic opportunity that allows graduates to gain valuable industry experience, achieve a postgraduate qualification and begin a satisfying career in one of the largest sectors of the food industry,' he said.
