Graduates help L'Oreal go green
Three top engineering undergraduates have helped cosmetics giant L'Oreal improve its energy efficiency.
As part of L'Oreal's Ingenius programme, the three students from the University of Cambridge devised a new way of improving the firm's plant in South Wales, Online Recruitment magazine reports.
Six teams from UK universities took part in the competition. The Cambridge representatives were deemed most successful for their part in reducing energy consumption at the Llantrisant factory by 50%.
Human Resources Director for L'Oreal's Llantrisant plant, Paul Smart, stated that the company is maintaining its close links with undergraduate engineers.
'This year we will recruit three engineering graduates in Llantrisant and we hope Ingenius will play an important role in this process,' he said.
Engineering, Safety and Environmental Manager at the plant, Martyn Price, added that the company is '100% committed' to helping the environment.
The Ingenius programme involves 12 countries around the world, including Mexico, Brazil, France, China, India, Germany, the US and Canada.
