Some A-levels claimed to be easier
Certain A-level subjects are claimed to be easier than others in a new report from a Government watchdog.
Research conducted by the Qualification and Curriculum Authority has suggested that subjects such as history are more demanding than A-levels in geography.
Subjects such as sociology and media studies may be reviewed following the research, as university applications continuing increasing.
UCAS recently noted a 7% rise in applications to undergraduate courses this year.
Martin Ward, Deputy General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, stated that the toughest subjects are thought to be modern languages, physical sciences and mathematics.
'Students choose a variety of subjects at both GCSE and A-level, and the perception remains very strong that some subjects are harder than others,' he remarked.
He added that 'school and college leaders know that exams in all subjects are not equal.'
