HIV organisation leader joins Lancaster management course
A leader of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance is to join Lancaster University Management School in a bid to strengthen her management skills.
Milly Katana, head of the Alliance's Uganda office, commented that the aim of her learning is to help her work in preventing the spread of the disease HIV.
Embarking on the International Masters in Practicing Management (IMPM) course at the institution - which recently announced a new agreement with technology giant IBM - Ms Katana remarked that she required academic training as well as her previous work experience.
Ms Katana added that as part of role she is often thinking about financial and strategy issues, as well as public image.
'I signed up to the IMPM because I found that on-the-job management training is not sufficient to prepare me for the challenge of growing our organisation in Uganda,' she said.
The 18-month qualification will provide Ms Katana with organisational strategy and advanced leadership skills, after which she hopes to begin a Master's degree.
