Insurers urged to do more on graduate recruitment
Few graduates would choose a job in the insurance sector, it has been claimed, prompting calls for the industry to improve its recruitment process.
According to Lloyd's of London, the insurance sector is set to face a crisis in recruitment because there are not enough people being enticed into the industry.
Speaking at the Insurance Institute of London, Lloyd's of London chief executive Richard Ward said that more needs to be done within the industry to tackle the increasingly aging workforce.
According to Mr Ward, nearly 90 per cent of graduates now say they would not consider a career in the insurance industry and 75 per cent of recruiters admit that they find it difficult to attract top talent to the insurance sector.
Although the London insurance market is currently overhauling its approach to recruitment so as to bring in more graduates, Mr Ward concluded that more needs to be done to make the industry attractive to young, talented individuals.
