BAE Systems announces MoD order
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has put in an order for one of BAE Systems' new products.
Q-Sight, a helmet mounted display unit developed by the firm, makes aviators more effective in many circumstances, including those in which visibility is impaired, such as brown-out conditions, the company claimed.
The Royal Navy is to purchase 12 remote sighting systems, which incorporate the new product, for use in its Lynx Mk8 helicopters.
Vice-President of Defence Avionics for the firm Jim Garceau outlined the benefits of Q-Sight, designed as a key element in the Gunner's Remote Sighting System.
'Its lightweight design increases pilot comfort and its wide field of view enables pilots to keep their heads up and eyes out of the cockpit while performing their missions,' he commented.
Furthermore, it enhances the performance of other crew members, such as door gunners and loadmasters, he added.
Meanwhile, the manufacturer recently announced the delivery of its first airborne day/night persistence surveillance system to the US army.
