    E.ON winner for transport initiative

Graduate jobs provider E.ON has been recognised for its part in a transport scheme to boost the use of electric cars in the UK.

As part of a ten-company consortium, Cabled, the energy organisation was awarded as one of the government's Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator competition winners

Launched in Birmingham last week, the Cabled project involves the use of 110 automobiles by 'real world' drivers for a year.

During the trial sophisticated equipment will log the journey information, energy consumption and performances of the cars to support the future implementation of more ultra-low carbon vehicles.

Secretary of State for Transport Lord Adonis and Minister for Science and Innovation Lord Drayson commended the consortium, along with seven others across the country, as providing a significant contribution to Britain's transport sector.

The other enterprises in the consortium were LTI, Arup, Mitsubishi/Colt, Jaguar/Land Rover, Mercedes Benz/Smart, Tata Motors, Microcab Industries, Coventry University, University of Birmingham and Aston University.

E.ON recently announced five successful years of green implementation at Arkwright Meadows Community Gardens in Nottingham.ADNFCR-1252-ID-19241306-ADNFCR
