Kier reaches finals of LABC awards for police station
Graduate recruiter Kier South East Construction has received a certificate for being a finalist at the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards.
The company gained recognition for its state-of-the-art four-storey north Kent police station in Gravesend.
Costing £31m to design and build, the structure was entered into the Best Commercial Building category for initiatives in the area exceeding £1m.
Features incorporated in the police station include an interview area for vulnerable witnesses, a 40-cell custody suite, a number of administration areas for operating purposes and an onsite vehicle crime scene investigation garage.
LABC awards aim to celebrate projects that show exceptional building quality, as well as high standards throughout the whole construction process.
In related news, Kier Marriott received the Chairman's Award, chosen by LABC chairman Mick Henman, for its Think Tank project. Structures are chosen for making the biggest contribution to the event, with Mr Henman commenting that it was 'a super building'.
