Warehouse managers work for logistics, distribution and haulage companies, manufacturers, retail companies and the armed forces. They are responsible for the efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of warehoused goods.
What warehouse managers do
- keep track of stock using computer systems

Training to be a warehouse manager
Any degree discipline is acceptable, but employers may prefer graduates with a qualification in distribution, logistics, transportation, retail management or business studies.
Some larger companies offer two-year graduate training schemes that combine on-the-job learning in various departments with study for relevant professional qualifications, such as those offered by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Salaries for warehouse managers
Starting salaries range from £18,000 to £35,000 for the more experienced manager. This job can provide a stepping stone to other supply chain jobs with salaries from £40,000 to £100,000 for senior professionals.
