Training to be a sports coach / instructor
In order to become a coach it is essential to have appropriate national qualifications in particular sports or activities. These are awarded by the national governing body for each sport and are usually obtained on a part-time basis.
Criminal Records Bureau checks and first aid are usually expected.
Salaries for sports coaches / instructors
Opportunities for salaried coaches are limited, since most are volunteers. For those who work professionally, salaries vary, but it is possible to earn between £15,000 and £30,000. Hourly rates range from £15 to over £60.
