All pupillage vacancies are advertised on www.pupillages.com. Most of the 200+ chambers listed there allow you to apply using the OLPAS scheme but many other chambers require non-OLPAS applications.

There are two application seasons: summer and autumn.

Pupillage applications through OLPAS

OLPAS is an online applications clearing house for about 100 sets of chambers within the scheme. It allows you to apply to up to 24 chambers a year (12 per season) using one online application form. You can track the progress of your applications and receive decisions via e-mail.

The main part of the application form is sent to all the chambers to which you are applying. However, there is also a small area in which you can write a personal statement directed to each individual set of chambers and seen only by them.

Non-OLPAS pupillage applications

Non-OLPAS chambers receive applications directly and are not bound by the rules of OLPAS. However, their vacancy information can also be found at www.pupillages.com.

Applications are generally made by CV and covering letter, and you must be able to market your skills and motivation to the same high standard as for any employer and demonstrate that you have researched your applications thoroughly.

Remember, OLPAS and non-OLPAS chambers operate parallel and complementary systems. You should apply through both channels, paying strict attention to the application guidelines and deadlines given in the information on the Pupillages.com website.
